FAQ

What type of migrations do you do?
We exclusively migrate non WordPress based sites and applications to WordPress as well as existing WordPress websites to new hosts. This can be any type of site from ASPX/.NET to Joomla – our only goal is to help you get your website onto the WordPress platform.

What information do you need to get started?
To get started with the migration process, we’ll need your current and new hosting account detail. As soon as we have transferred your website files and database. We’ll ask to update your domain’s DNS.

Do you migrate existing WordPress sites to new hosts?
Yes we do. If you need a hosting recommendation, just let us know or just check out WPEngine.com.

Do you migrate to WordPress.com?
No, we only migrate to the self-hosted version of WordPress – WordPress.org

What do I need to provide to complete my migration?
It all depends, however if your site has a database and you can provide a backup of that database, not only will that be a great resource for the migration but also great to provide so our team can give you the most accurate quote.

How much downtime will I experience?
Our aim is to keep downtime to a minimum. Your downtime depends on how long your domain’s DNS needs to propagate. In other words, it is a period of time ISP (Internet Service Provider) nodes across the world take to update their records with your domain’s new DNS information. This normally takes between 24hrs to 48hrs depending on where you are in the world.

What about my email address?
If you created an email address with your old hosting provider you will need to recreate the email address with your new provider. The same applies if you have any email forwarders installed. If you are working with a third-party service, you need to update the respective service settings.

Can I change my domain name?
Yes, we can transfer your site to a new host and configure your WordPress website to work with one domain.

Can you transfer into any hosting provider?
Yes, as long as the hosting company supports WordPress requirements. To double check, we suggest contacting the hosting company before signing up for their service. If you are not sure which hosting provider to choose, we recommend SiteGround.com.

What things do I need to consider for my migration to WordPress?
In addition to understanding what type of access you can provide to your existing site – such as database, admin, etc so our team can access all content, you will also need to think about what you want your current design to look like and what features from your current site you are looking to replicate.

You will also need a company to host your new WordPress site. Ask us if you need recommendations!

Do I know exactly how much I am going to pay and when?
Yes! After you submit your migration request, our team will review the details of your migration and either reach out with additional questions or reply back with an email outlining the total scope, cost, and timeline to complete your migration. You will have the opportunity to ask any additional questions then when you are ready to proceed, you simply enter your payment information and approve the quote.

Do you do hourly work?
No. All migration projects are quoted on a full scope basis. This means you will never get an unexpected bill or pay for anything you didn’t already approve.

What kind of customer support do you guys offer?
We offer email and support via our migration dashboard Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm PDT.

Can I preview my newly migrated site before it goes live?
Absolutely. We will provide you a preview link of your website very early in the process so you are able to watch the build take place and provide feedback or input every step of the way.
